Don't you love a smile filled with excitement! Javier* always brings a ray of light wherever he goes. Javier* came from Cuba and has been part of our ministry for the past two years. Actually, he is one of the key reasons our worship team gets everyone so excited about praising Jesus.
Recently, I met Javier* at the back door of Mission Adelante. He had been waiting to share some news. He proceeded to call his wife and she shared the good news that her visa to leave Cuba was approved (or so we thought). Javier* began jumping up and down and singing "halelujah!" I was overcome with joy, especially at seeing my brother in Christ so elated. His family would finally be coming to join him and he had waited so long for this moment.
The next day, however, was different. The message that Javier's* wife received from the U.S. Consulate in Cuba painted a dark picture. Her visa was in denied. I still don't understand how such a communication blunder could have happened, but the net result was deep sadness. The smile on Javier's* face turned to discouragement and desperation. I was at a loss for words on how to console him. We prayed a lot during that day and still pray a lot for his family. Would you join me in praying for Javier*? His son turns ten on Monday(4/29) and Daniel's wish is to have his father present. It will be a hard day for them both. Still, Javier* is hopeful and so are we. There is still another means to apply for the visa and we will doing everything possible to see that Javier's* family can join us in Kansas. (*Javier is not real name of our friend)
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.--Philippians 4:6
